Is Anyone Else Getting Sick Of City Codes?
I live in Texas and they have passed all sorts of ridiculous laws and codes that are intended only to rake in bucks and make everyone statutory criminals if they don’t abide.
One example is here where I live is you can no longer build a house unless it has an attached 2 car garage. Now outside storage is gone mad. You can’t leave ANYTHING in your own yard except lawn furniture or pay excessive fines of over $1000, etc. In many places you can’t even park in your own driveway and if you have guests I suppose they have to park miles away at an airport and take a taxi? I know one guy who owned his own place for 30 years. he had a small crack in his foundation and got 30 days to either repair it or face heavy fines in the thousands. He sold to one of those “We buy ugly houses” places and took a hell of a loss over it.
Before you start spouting off about liberalism I live in Texas where Bushco thinks he’s king. Liberals are scarcer than a penis in the hands of the Venus De Milo here. Well, in Texas that might be normal, but you get the point I would think.
This is private property we’re talking about, but a few people seem to think they can push everyone around endlessly.
I would simply move it it weren’t for the fact that these damned fascists are everywhere anymore. I could see if these laws were meant to protect average citizens, but they serve only to artificially increase property values at the expense of the people who actually live in them. Even then we get zero benefit from these excessive codes because once the artificial property value is in place the city then slaps you with excessive property taxes. They’ve taken over our country and it’s time for a few heads to roll in my opinion.
Liberalism? This isn’t liberalism, it’s fascism or some perverted form of communism. Whatever it is I say take the curtain cops out and burn them at the stake. Anyone with me?
