The Obama administration is looking into creating a plan where mortgage borrowers who have fallen behind on their payments may now have the United States government make the payments for them, and then pay the government rent in the process. Under one idea being discussed, delinquent homeowners would surrender ownership of their homes but would continue to live in the property for several years, the sources told Reuters.

Most expensive sale of the year and other rumblings

Yesterday the Aspen Times reported the sale of a 21,400 square foot home on four-and-a-half acres for $43 million in a cash deal. At $43 million, this is would appear to be the most expensive home reported sold in the U.S. so far this year. The Wall Street Journal has picked up the story here.
